Literal translation: Offering a handful of flowers (Pushpam = flowers; Anjali = offering using the hand)
Pushpanjali is the offering of flowers to the Gods. During the pooja, the Tantri (priest) chants both Vedic and Tantric mantras to bless the devotee. Here in GTB, the Tantri offers prasadam to the devotee once the pooja has been completed. Prasadam in this case refers to a material object that attains a divine quality as part of the pooja, and is then consumed by the devotee as a form of blessing that is directly internalized.
Flowers are chosen as the instrument when conducting poojas since they contain traits that are derived from all five natural elements, and have the ability to evoke all five human senses.
