This is a very auspicious ritual done in Guruvayur Temple on the last day of Mandalam.
Kalabham is prepared by using edible camphor (pachakarpooram), saffron (kumkumapoovu), and sandal (chandanam). These three ingredients are ground to a paste form using panineer (rose water) to make kalabham. Kalabham is then poured into a kalasam (earthen pot). After offering pooja to kalasam, abhishekam is performed on the idol of Sri Guruvayurappan.
