Sage Veda Vyasa Maharshi, who codified the four vedas and composed Mahabharata, was despondent. At the behest of Sage Narada he composed Srimad Bhagavatam, and obtained complete satisfaction and peace of mind.
Merely listening to Bhagavan’s divine stories is enough – and the Lord makes his divine presence felt in a devotee’s heart and washes away the minutest of sins from their life. This is well documented in multiple places throughout Srimad Bhagavatam. In our modern, fast-paced materialistic life, we yearn for happiness and peace of mind. In this pursuit it is very important to carry a steadfast belief in our minds that the Lord is there with us all the time. Srimad Bhagavatam has the power to open the pathways for the Lord to enter our mind, grant us peace of mind and happiness, and ultimately lead us towards salvation.
Hence, conducting Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham in the precincts of our holy temple is a Yagna that is most beneficial, holy and blessed. The Board of Directors of Guruvayurappan Temple of Brampton is planning to conduct Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham during the holy Mandalam season, towards the end of December 2021. This Maha Yagna shall be for a period of 7 days involving recital of the holy Srimad Bhagavata puranam in Sanskrit, followed by detailed explanation of the chapters and performance of various poojas as dictated by the various episodes of Bhagavatam. This is a Maha Yagna and participation in such a holy event is due to the culmination of various good deeds performed by one over many lives. This holy event involves detailed planning and preparation for the event, and as the name Maha Yagna suggests, this involves total participation of the entire community. In this regard, your temple requests all the devotees of Lord Guruvayurappan to come forward with your opinion and suggestions to make this community event a grand success. We also encourage you to be an active volunteer in this Maha Yagna and be the recipient of the Lord’s blessings.
Your valuable inputs and/or availability to volunteer in various areas of planning, scheduling, setup, cleanup, food preparation and distribution etc., may please be directed to temple@guruvayur.ca
